Meet Dr. Roberta Garceau
My passion is to create possibilities and enhance lives, one smile at a time. It is so exciting to help my patients achieve their dream smiles, especially when they never felt it was possible. When patients express their trust in me, that’s rewarding. To me, being a dentist is the perfect marriage of art and science. Every day I get to help people not only to be healthier but to look and feel better in the process. My mission is to listen to each individual’s concerns and create possibilities to achieve his or her personal goals.
Education and Experience
I graduated Cum Laude from Fairfield University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Next came my Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD), followed by a Residency and Fellowship in Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD), at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. In 1995, I was drawn to Windsor and developed Great New Smile.
Great New Smile
I’m so blessed to work with such an excellent team. I’m constantly impressed by their ability to connect with patients of all different ages and backgrounds. They bring a personality and understanding to our practice that makes it a delightful place to wake up and go to every day. I truly appreciate every smile and hug my team brings to our office and I love our team-building exercises, like painting homes for Habitat for Humanity and going zip-lining.
Continuing Education and Professional Affiliations
Continuous education keeps my knowledge and skills on the leading-edge of dentistry, and stokes my passion for dentistry and wellness. With a blend of both Western science and traditional Ayurvedic Medicine, my patients benefit from a holistic approach to both their oral health and their overall health and wellbeing.
I am committed to continuous growth and learning to better serve our patients.
Throughout the year I participate in lectures and seminars, attend multiple meetings, and avidly study the latest journals. Staying up-to-date with new techniques and materials, as well as technological innovations, ensures I am offering patients proven, safe, and effective care.
Among my continuing educational highlights, I am a:
- Pankey Institute and Dawson Academy Alumnus
- Fellow, Academy of General Dentistry
- Qualified Dentist, American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine
- Diplomate, American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine
- 500+ hour Certified Yoga and Ayurveda Instructor
Beyond the Practice
I grew up in Naugatuck, Connecticut, and have lived in Avon for over 20 years. My husband Jerry and I have two amazing children now in college: Jacenda is studying to become a Physician’s Assistant and Liam is pursuing degrees in Finance. Our Labradoodles, Nemo and Naya, keep our empty nest from feeling very empty!
When I’m not at the office, I prefer to be in nature – in solitude and with family and friends – hiking, biking, skiing, and just about anything else in the fresh air! I also teach and share yoga and wellness online and in-person, enjoy reading nonfiction, and work jigsaw puzzles to unwind.
In the Community
Over the years, in addition to projects and donations through Great New Smile, I have personally strived to serve others. I have taught community yoga to residents of St. Mary’s Home, Windsor Independent Living Association, and Yoga for Cancer Patients.
I was raised with the belief that I should give back to and support those around me because it is the right thing to do. I am here to make a positive difference in our world.
